(06-07-14) Ten ways mercury is toxic to the body

by Derek Henry

(NaturalNews) There are many elements that are useful to the proper functioning of the body, but mercury is not one of them. It has zero value for its proper functioning and should be considered one of the most dangerous toxins that one is exposed to due to its degenerative side effects and indiscriminate prevalence in one's life. Read on to find out where it lurks and ten ways that it's toxic to one's body.
Common exposure points of mercury
Mercury can be encountered in many different places, but the most common and consistent exposure points include:

• Seafood
• Dental amalgams
• Vaccines
• Agricultural chemicals

It can also be found in drinking water, the air, batteries, red tattoo dye and more.

What is especially troubling about mercury is the frequency at which it is introduced to the body. With seafood becoming very popular, and chemically treated foods making up a large part of the food supply, nearly every single person has been eating trace amounts of mercury for much of their life.

If that is not concerning enough, consider the fact that children are exposed to 26 doses of vaccines by their first birthday, and most people have several dental amalgams. The direct injection of trace amounts of mercury is especially dangerous at such an early age when the immune system is not properly developed, and placing mercury directly in the mouth to become a permanent part of the body's physiology is a prominent health risk for the rest of one's life (or at least until they are removed).
The toxic effects of mercury on the body
Mercury has many toxic effects on the body, the most prominent being the following:

• It inhibits the repair of DNA, our basic genetic material.
• It alters the ability of cells to selectively allow materials through their membranes.
• It changes the three-dimensional shape of molecules, producing non-functional chemicals.
• It alters the activities of enzymes, which are needed for all biochemical reactions in the body.
• It interferes with the transmission of nerve impulses from the brain to the rest of the body, producing tremors, shaking, tingling and numbness.
• It can provoke the immune system to mount an autoimmune response against the body.
• It interferes with endocrine gland function and hormone secretion.
• It can displace and deactivate vital minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, zinc, and chromium.
• It kills friendly bacteria in the digestive tract, preventing absorption of nutrients.
• By creating new strains of bacteria, it may create resistance to antibiotics.

This list of toxic effects can create many symptoms and disease labels, including:

• Candida and IBS
• Dementia, autism, ADHD, Parkinson's and depression
• Arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and multiple sclerosis
• Cancer
• Diabetes
• Heart disease
• Lupus
• Reproductive problems

Unfortunately, removing heavy metals is not a simple and quick process. It requires time, high-quality and specific food and supplement choices, and often specialized medical procedures in order to remove it effectively.

However, one can begin the process by adopting a fundamental eating and lifestyle plan that optimizes all functions of the body, in order to provide the strength that the body needs to effectively and safely remove them for good.
