(14-03-07) Low-fat Diet Hurts Fertility Risk
Boston (eCanadaNow) - Women who eat a very low-fat diet when trying to get pregnant may have a harder time as a low-fat diet has been linked to infertility.
A low-fat diet consisting of things such as eating yogurt or drinking skimmed or even half-skimmed milk daily doubles the risk of a women stopping ovulation.
The opposite effect occurs when full dairy products are eaten such as a bowl of ice cream.
The study involved 19,000 women and was done at the Harvard School pf Public Health in Massachusetts.
Dr. Jorge Chavarro was the auhor of the study and stated that hopeful mothers should eat two full-fat dairy food product servings on a daily basis.
The warning though stated that they should not increase their calorie intake or saturated fats, but to eat full healthy foods such as whole dairy.
The women were tracked for 8 years with women who ate at least one serving of full-fat milk dairy every day at a 27 percent higher chance of getting pregnant.
