(Washington, DC) -- There's a mixed bag of news on the health of

More people are reported to be engaging in physical activity, but obesity
and smoking rates are unchanged.
In a breakdown of the latest survey, the number of people exercising

The CDC recommends about an hour daily of moderate exercise to avoid weight
gain and prevent heart disease, diabetes and cancer.
Meantime, obesity rates are unchanged at 28 percent last year from 2008.
The number of obese adults in the U.S. age 20 and over rose by nearly eight
percent between 1997 and 2009.
Last year, the percentage of adults 18 and over with diabetes increased by
almost one percent last year from 2008.
The CDC report has determined the percentage of Americans who smoke remains
at over 20-and-a-half percent, virtually the same as two years ago.
There was also a slight increase last year in Americans who say they have
been tested for the AIDS virus over 2008 figures.
